crappity crappity crap. i forgot to write a birthday blog on my birthday. i'll probably still write one on my mom's birthday (i kinda promised her), but that'll be it. no more birthday blogs. (i know, i've got a busy schedule lately so i cant make any promises too big. actually--my schedule isnt that busy. i'm just lazier than ever now that i'm 10. you'd think i'd be more responsible, but nope! tee-hee.)

plus, on father's day, i gave my dad a snowglobe that i picked out myself. it had a daddy dancing with his daughter in it! aww!

Mother's Day Surprise!

Dear Diary,

Today, at All American Girl Art Class, I made a super-cool Mother's Day purse for Mom...and I'm not gonna describe it 'cause my mom might be reading this...and she's not supposed to see it...or know what it looks like till Sunday, which is when Mother's Day is.

I also started making a clothing rack for my American Girl doll, Samantha. The first and second coat of paint are pink, and in two weeks (there won't be class for two weeks 'cause our teacher Beth is going to Hawaii), I'm gonna sponge-paint the clothes-rack light blue or another pretty color! Yay!

That's Entertainment let me down!

Dear Diary,

Once, my bro' Dan showed me a store called That's Entertainment. At first I was just dragged along to it when Dan wanted to buy himself some trading cards or something. But then when I found out the store had Naruto comic books, next thing ya know I became a frequent customer!

So, anyway, yesterday I just finished reading Volume 8 of Naruto, and wanted to buy more.

I went with my dad, and once we got to That's Entertainment, I immediately started searching for Naruto Volume 9. When I didn't find it, I began looking for Bleach Volume 2 (Bleach is another cool anime I like). Didn't find that either. And ya know what? I wouldn't have been so upset if they had Naruto Volumes 1, 12, 14, 15, and 38 but not 9 and 10!! And they had Bleach Volumes 3-24, but 2!!!!! No fair!

My dad searched high and low, all over the store, but he didn't find anything I wanted.

*sigh*

On the plus side, we did end up going home with a little adorable toy seal (there were also some plush Naruto characters that I really, really wanted, too but I was too shy to ask Dad to buy them).

In other news, my bro' Boris has an account on Live Journal (it's sort of like Angelfire, which is the website I created my blog on, but different), and I have 2 accounts (I created 2 by accident) on it. And as soon as I turn in a copy of my birth certificate to LJ HQ (it's this "age verification" thing they have for LJ users under 13), I'll be able to post entries and upload a picture onto my LJ profile! YAY! Don't worry, I won't be dumping this blog. No way. I believe that just because something is older doesn't mean it is worse, or that newer isn't always better.

Looks like my mom won 1st prize with her story "The Rainbow and The Storm." She wrote it in Russian, though, and it's gonna be hard to translate, so I can't post it here... Aw. Oh well!

Here's Dan's story (he's the only one who wrote his story in English):

Why the Chumash Tribe Live on the Plateaus

One day it started to rain. The wise old man of the Chumash tribe shook his head. "This isn't good," he said. He disappeared into his tent and smoked for a week straight. He leaned out once again and saw that the rain was still there and the rivers were full. "Don't worry," chirped the Spotted Woodpecker in his little cage, "My uncle Kpenawa will save us!"

The old man smoked and watched his people farming down in the valley. "Come to the mountains," he told them and they moved to the plateau to hunt wild animals. The rain kept falling streadily. Sometimes faster and sometimes slower but it kept right on falling and the sky grew dark. The old man looked out once again and saw the rivers had completely filled the river valleys. The river were swolled to four times their previous size and looked more like rushing oceans than rivers. "This isn't good!" He moaned to himself and quietly smoked in silence. He smoked for a whole year before looking out again. "Don't worry," chirped the Spotted Woodpecker, "My uncle Kpenawa will save us!"

The rain kept falling. It rushed down the sides of the plateaus and made islands of these mountains. All manner of beasts joined the tribes at the top of the world. The rain kept falling and the islands got smaller and the cold dark waters rushed all around them. At the very end, the old man couldn't smoke anymore because everything was under water. "This isn't good," he said as he tried to light his peace pipe. "Don't worry," chirped the Spotted Woodpecker, "My uncle Kpenawa will save us!" With that he flew away high into the sky. Behind him, everything that was left was destroyed with one final wave.

He flew and flew and didn't stop until he flew into the sun. There he saw his uncle Kaqunupenawa sleeping with his back toward the world. "Uncle, Uncle," cried the woodpecker. "Wake up!" The woodpecker sat on his head and started pecking away. After a while, Kaqunupenawa woke up. "You have to sleep on your other side now," said the Spotted Woodpecker. "Oh, okay," he grunted and turned over and was soon snoring away again.

The light of the sun drained all the plateaus, plains, and river valleys of the cold waters. The world was restored and was better than ever. After a few minutes it seemed like the whole thing was no more than a bad dream and a few minutes after they couldn't even remember that. Everyone was home again and ejoyed their lives like before except for the Chumash tribe which lives in the plateaus to this very day--just in case Kpenawa forgets to rotate sides as he sleeps.
